A thing of beauty

I found this image in a Life Magazine from the 70s. My grandparents have saved boxes of them, who knows why. It was taken in Mexico by photographer John Dominis. This faded and, as you can see, creased image is glued to cardstock and taped up near my desk.  Besides including some of my favorite colors (grey and green) I think it's a beautiful photo for it's content alone. There is the loveliness of the girl, the simplicity of her dress, and the striking burst of the white lillies but there's quite a poignancy. She seems to strain under the weight of the flowers and her feet are shuffling. This photo makes me want to go sit with the flower sellers in Mexico or India and know them.

Any favorite images or photos hanging around your desk?
